The latest ‘Bible in Recent News’:

  1. Bob Dylan has received the Nobel Prize in Literature 2016, ‘for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition’. Over the years, some attention has been given to the influence of the Bible on Dylan’s music, recently in The Week’s “Bob Dylan’s Biblical Imagination” (2016), also in “The Dark Side of Dylan” (CT 2012) and Michael J. Gilmour’s Tangled Up in the Bible: Bob Dylan and Scripture (2004).
  2. It’s not every day that a student digs through a box in the archives and unearths centuries-old Geneva Bible.
  3. A new poll suggests that only 31% of people in the UK would like a copy of the Bible to take to a desert island.” And unsurprisingly, “There was a noticeable generational difference: 18% of 18-to-24-year-olds would choose a Bible, compared with 39% of over-65s.”
